The Tellimer Excel add-in

Getting started

Once added, the Tellimer Excel add-in will launch in a side-panel.

  • Only users permission with Excel add-in access will be able to log in.
  • Permissioned users will use their regular Tellimer log in details.

A breakdown of the UI

Once logged in, users will see a Tellimer branded header with

  • Refresh data : This will automatically refresh any data inserted. This is disabled by default.
  • Their user account menu: This contains the following:
    • A link to the Tellimer app
    • A link to the help centre
    • Contact support details
    • Sign out button.

Below that there’s two input fields:

  1. Select country
  2. Select data series (for the country above.) This is disabled by default until a country has been selected.

At the bottom users will find

  • Clear all : This resets the country and data series inputs.
  • Insert : This inserts the country data series into their workbook.
  • Both of these are disabled by default until a country and (at least one) data series have been selected.

Selecting a country

Users can select from any of the countries we have in our database.


Select data series

Once users select the data series input field, the drop down will show the available sources (currently IMF WEO and National Sources.) This communicates clearly what’s on offer to those who are new to the add-in.

Typing in the input will filter the relevant indicators and present them in the drop down (replacing the default menu.) This is useful for power users who know exactly which indicators they want.


Inserting data

Users can select as whichever indicators they want from the dropdown. They will see the selected ones appear in the input. Beyond a certain point the input will hide overflow items to allow the dropdown to remain visible. The amount of hidden items will be displayed as + x more , pressing this will expand the input to show the full list of items.

Users can select where they want to insert the data.


Refreshing data

Once inserted, users can refresh the data from the add-in header. This will automatically find the inserted data (even if it was move from the original location.) The inserted data will show a ⌛️ Refreshing... message during the refresh period.
